I’ve been borderline obsessed with Leroy since high school. My sister and I discovered him together during a Youtube spree. Leroy has a beautiful range and every time he hits a high note so, it makes me want to take my panties off… You know, if I was ever wearing any to start with.
I don’t think I can choose between any of these versions of this beautiful song!! Listen to them alllll!! Cry with me! Listen to the lyrics! Internalize them! Vibe with me. <3
Here, we have Leroy Sanchez always coming through with the delicious, panty-dropping runs. He’s the only man that never disappoints me. And he definitely did not do so when I discovered this cover.
This is Justin Vernon of Bon Iver! We get to hear some lovely piano playing in this cover. I was already turning down the lights and the bed when he started singing! With his talented fingers having ass! I will venture to say that I think that he has an alto voice. At least that’s what I think from what I’m listening to. I’m also trying to figure out how I’m never heard this song before, or if I have, why the fuck don’t I remember it. *screaming*
Tank was really before my time, but that’s okay though because he came in with that beautiful falsetto. It turns out tank also plays piano, which doesn’t surprise me, I just didn’t know. This man is so soulful. I would like to jump through the screen to comfort him during this time of need. This is a true and true R&B rendition of the song. That means you can slow dance to it and also turn It on as she takes showers and cry about lost love.
This Alex G Cover was recommended by YouTube. She’s accompanied by Kurt Hugo Schneider, who also has magic hands on the piano. Somehow Alex G ended up being the only woman to make this list, so that does not mean that I will not update this list in the future when I discover more covers of this song that I really enjoy. Her version is a ballad that ebbs and flows with a lot of emotion. She has a very light, yet strong, haunting voice.
Damn!! Prince is haunting my soul from beyond the goddamn grave! Amazing how he’s the only one that added some funk to this song, drums and whatnots a too! That’s what Prince does…um… did. I definitely am not mad though that I discovered this little gem from the beloved singer/songwriter that played a million instruments. *cries*
